Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph a 5k. This was a special one though. Because bacon. Lots of bacon. A Red Frog Events hosted 5k called the Bacon Chase was held Saturday Morning at Montrose Beach in Chicago. I photographed through Gameface Media. It was a great day for some bacon. Here are a few of my shots.
On my uncle's birthday, my grandma had a request for me. She showed me a photo of my great grandfather's football team photo. She asked me if I could lighten the original. I told her, I could work on it. Here is a before/after of that image.
The Auto Show is back. Got my media pass again this year. I went with my brother with a few of his car buddies. Here are a few of my favorites.
2013 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Champions!!! That sounds wonderful. What a crazy playoffs and even better Stanley Cup Finals. Grit and Glamour. Goals and Injuries. Hockey is the definition of toughness. Chicago has been awarded the presence and return of Lord Stanley's Cup. I have now made a "Hawks Cup Count" poster which I have ordered into a 10x30 print which is intentionally left 'unfinished' for the future addition of Stanley Cup Returns. One Goal. One Tradition. I LOVE GOALS!!
That my brother owns...I get to photograph it. Last week my brother pulled up in his 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Blacktop to replace his apparently temporary Nissan Altima. Quite an upgrade. Oddly enough, however, the Charger doesn't come in stick, but the Altima did. Anyway, to my actual point of this post. My brother came back home this weekend for my mom's birthday and we finally got around to taking some photos. We stopped by the Old Joliet Prison. Here are a few of my favorites.
It's that time again. Chelsea Dagger has been roaring all season and it will continue....with even more passion. Now that the Chicago Blackhawks are in the playoffs again, this time as the NHL's top team. It has gotten me into full fanatic, creating some sweet designs. The others being a wallpaper for my new Samsung Galaxy S4 and a facebook cover photo. Let's bring Stanley home, Hawks.
It's Auto Show time in Chicago. While I've gone to many auto shows in the past, this is the first time I had media credentials...which would have gotten me into the media days, but I could not make it to either. However I did make it on opening day. It was a challenge in itself to get really good looking shots with different angles and what not. On top of that, I had to finesse myself around crowds swarming around the vehicles.....especially the GT500, 2014 Corvette Stingray, and the return of the Viper. I did stay courteous to others while trying to get my way to the front. however, with that media pass, I felt a bit more comfortable leaning in over the glass and pretty much lying on the ground....which I did many times.
It's been a while since I posted something. Not much has really been happening...well, I was rear-ended at the end of November and I got my truck back today. Merry Christmas to me! Speaking of Christmas, I got a few new CF cards for my camera. On the weekend of Black Friday, I bought myself a 35mm f/1.4L lens randomly. Thanks lensrentals.com! I like it. I used it to photograph my accident that happened about 25 seconds after I pulled out of the parking lot at work. My life rolled over another year two weeks ago which brings the count a total of 24. My brother bought me a NERF gun for that milestone. He's 28.
But anyway, I am on break from work for another week then it's back to the old grind. OH! And the world didn't end.....so that's nice. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to photograph a Chicago Fire game like the pros. The Chicago Photography Center had a photo outing event at the game vs D.C. United and I signed up for the chance. Chicago Tribune photojournalist and sports photographer, Scott Strazzante, was there and I worked along side of him for the first half. It was a fun experience and a lot more active than photographing high school sports. Here are a few shots I was able to get. There are more under my photography tab.
